Airbus innovation: Augmented Approaches to Land

Air traffic around major airports is dense and complex.

Approach and departure routes are designed as the best compromise between noise abatement, fuel efficiency and runway throughput.

SESAR, the Single European Sky Air Traffic Management Research programme, took the challenge to further optimize flows around airports, and this in the context of increasing traffic.

In the frame of Large Scale Demonstrations, SESAR launched the Augmented Approaches to Land project, AAL.
