What Design Means for Finnair

Finnair has focused on style and design ever since the first transatlantic service to NYC in 1969.

Tapio Wirkkala designed the iconic Ultima Thule glassware especially for that flight but it has since become part of Finland’s national design heritage.

For decades, top designers have designed Finnair uniforms. Recently Marimekko created new colorful tableware and textiles for the cabin, inspired by the Finnish landscape.

But design is not only about the aesthetics, it is also about service.

‘We want to give our best every day, and then add that little extra something that makes the experience unique’, says Peter Gabrielsson, Vice President for Customer Experience, Product and Inflight Services at Finnair.
